| Sandy
Dennis has been actively exploring yoga since 2002 and recently
completed an intensive Hatha Yoga teacher training in the
Sivananda lineage in Madurai, India. Sandy continues to expand
her teaching style and most recently completed a 55 hour teacher
training with Max Strom, an inspiring and internationally
well known yoga teacher who has transformed the lives of many
yoga students and teachers. |
Since
moving to Southern Oregon in 2006 and having the opportunity
to work with children, Sandy decided to receive her certification
to teach Kid’s Yoga. She finds great satisfaction in
creatively working with children of all ages to develop positive
self esteem and respect for their environment and themselves
through the transformational practice of yoga. |
| Through
many life lessons, Sandy has come to appreciate the importance
of learning how to breathe properly. “Breathe
deeply, breathe mindfully, breathe fully” is
her mantra as she encourages students through postures, meditation,
and relaxation. The mindful breath practice engages the body,
mind, spirit connection which helps us transcend life’s
challenges. “Breath is life and only through breath can
we begin to discover our deeper connection to self”. |

| During
her stay at the ashram Sandy was given her spiritual name, “Chandrika”
which means moonlight. As with the moon, the qualities of calmness,
peace and serenity are cultivated during practice as students surrender
to the poses, building strength, flexibility and mindfulness to
posture and body alignment while respecting their individual capacities. |
Most
recently Sandy created a Chair Yoga practice, using techniques developed
by Dr. John Schlorholtz, to help seniors and people with physical
limitations experience the healing power of yoga in their lives.
Sandy is personally committed to helping our aging population find
freedom and mobility through developing strength and flexibility
in their bodies, improve their breathing capabilities and experience
relaxation through guided meditation. |
